Call for Preparatory Activities

One of the major objectives of establishing ASEAN IVO is to launch new joint projects, and the first target is to commence project work in spring 2016. In order to make this a possibility, we consider that there should first be sufficient opportunity for discussion among members regarding collaboration potential, explore common research themes and generate ideas.

We are planning two Calls and one Forum in this year, and NICT is offering support for these activities.

1. In the Call for Preparatory Activities, NICT is offering support for joint activities for purposes of exchanging information on scientific topics, research fields, and other information beneficial to generating project ideas.
2. ASEAN IVO Forum 2015 will provide a place for all ASEAN IVO members to exchange ideas, discuss R&D topics and coordinate projects. This Forum is scheduled for November.
3. The Call for Proposals, scheduled later this year, will be for joint projects that are intended to commence in 2016.

Any and all members of ASEAN IVO can apply for the Call for Preparatory Activities and the ASEAN IVO Forum 2015.

This is the Call for Preparatory Activities, and we have started accepting support requests.

1. Activities eligible for support

1.                          Researcher exchange, etc.

2.                          Hosting academic workshops, meetings, etc.

2. Application

1.                          Applicants: ASEAN IVO members

2.                          Eligibility for support:        

(1)  Researcher exchange, etc.

The sender and receiver should be members of ASEAN IVO. The period of time should be from one month to three months and the exchange should be finished by the end of February 2016.

(2)  Academic workshops, meetings, etc.

The hosts of the event should be members of ASEAN IVO and the topic should be related to ICT. The venue should be located in the ASEAN region and the event should be finished by the end of February 2016.

3.                          Support available:             

(1)  Researcher exchange, etc.

NICT can offer support for the round trip fare at discount economy class, as well as accommodation and a reasonable daily allowance.

(2)  Academic workshops, meetings, etc.

NICT can offer support for venue expenses, invited speaker expenses and part of operation expenses.

3. Review and selection

(1)  Selection will be prioritized by necessity, potential benefit, technical merit and other relevant factors.

(2)  The Steering Committee of ASEAN IVO will evaluate each submission and select the activities to be supported. In some cases, modifications, coordination or additional collaboration might be recommended.

(3)  The activities selected for support will be announced on the ASEAN IVO website.

(4)  Selected awardees will be requested to report to the Steering Committee about the outcomes of the supported activities.

(5)  Awardees have the responsibility to cooperate with NICT for administrative procedures.

4. Submission

(1)  Procedure: Submit applications by filling in all necessary items in the Request for Support form and E-mailing it by attachment in PDF format.
