Report on NICT’s Exhibits and Participation at the ITU Telecom World 2015

National Institute of Information and Communications Technology

The ITU Telecom World 2015 hosted by the United Nations’ specialized agency International Telecommunication Union (ITU) was held from 12 – 15 October in Budapest, Hungary. The event primarily featured a forum and exhibition. This year saw 247 speakers participate from 62 countries in forum sessions and, with an impressive list of delegates and representatives including government ministries, public institutions, private corporations and more, with a total of over 4,000 participants from 129 countries at the event.
NICT participated in a number of ways, including a lecture from Vice President Fumihiko Tomita during the Japan Session “Society Construction with a Sense of Security -Making full use of "IoT" for Future Progress -”, as well as exhibition booths at the Japan Pavilion showcasing the following:
1. Interactive visualization of scientific images obtained by remote sensing technology
~Dagik Earth and SCALE~
2. Data aware networking in future networks
These demonstrations were very well-received with a great number of people visiting and interacting with NICT, including VIPs and media from various different countries.
