Dr. Hamadoun I. Touré, Secretary General of International Telecommunication Union (ITU), visited NICT during his stay in Japan on June 12, 2012.
Dr. Miyahara, President of NICT, welcomed Dr. Touré and Mr. Tominaga, Vice President, explained the brief overview of the NICT’s research activities and its efforts for standardization in the ITU. Mr. Tominaga also explained that NICT will try its best to support ongoing and future initiatives of ITU such as, standardization activities in the field of resilient ICT to cope with natural disasters and "Kaleidoscope" to encourage collaborations in standardization among academia, research institutes, industries and governments.
Dr. Touré expressed his appreciation to NICT for its vital contribution to ITU and expected NICT to continue its efforts.
