The Message by the President of NICT

I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to everyone overseas as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection spreads worldwide.

Japan is threatened with the nationwide rapid spread of COVID-19 and, like other countries, we are making every effort to overcome it.

NICT has established close cooperative relationships with overseas researchers, research institutions, companies, universities, and governments to promote research and development. Unfortunately, the recent spread of the infection has restricted the travel of researchers abroad, canceled international conferences and events, and made it difficult to conduct joint research and exchanges.

In the past, information and communication technology (ICT) has been utilized to solve a variety of social problems around the world. In this difficult moment, we should take advantage of ICT, continue communication, and work together to solve problems. Let's steadily move forward with what we can do now, and once we get through the hard times, let's form stronger, bolder collaborations.
