We constantly strive for improvement in internationalizing Japan’s ICT R&D environment via international exchange and collaboration with overseas research organizations, and promote standardization strategies directed toward the international market.

The ever-progressing globalization of economy and society requires us to continuously improve the way we carry out R&D in the field of ICT and disseminate its outcome on a global scale. To this end, NICT established, along with the kickoff of its third five-year midterm plan on April 1st 2011, the International Affairs Department which will be dedicated to the development and consolidation of strategies toward internationalization of Japan’s R&D efforts in the field of ICT.

Our department promotes international exchange and supports the dissemination of research results on the international stage. In this respect, we assist the Japanese industry and academia in their projects requiring collaborative research and exchange of personnel with overseas organizations. We also team up with the industry and actively engage in standardization efforts to spur the dissemination and utilization of R&D outcomes on the international market.
