WTP 2018
WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY PARK (WTP) is one of the biggest events in Japan focused on research wireless communication technologies. Consisting of exhibition, seminars, and academic programs, WTP assembles the latest technologies and products which are essential for future ICT society.

This year, under the main theme “5G x IoT and Beyond”, WTP features the 5th Generation Mobile Communications System (5G) and the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as positioning technology, Intelligent Transport System (ITS), terahertz-wave technology, reliable wireless network technology for drones/robots and extreme situations such as subsea, maritime and the outer space. Moreover, WTP 2018 co-organizes the joint program “Future society created by 5G, IoT and AI” with co-located expo Wireless Japan 2018. In this program, the executives and experts will give presentations on the forefront of technologies and solutions of the topics that are expected as the keys in coming era.

NICT will introduce latest results from our researches on wireless and satellite communication technologies through exhibition and seminars.

Special Features

5G Tokyo Bay Summit® 2018

5G Tokyo Bay Summit® 2018 After the first approval of 5G standards by 3GPP in last December, the realization of 5G is being accelerated. Following the attempts of the past two years, “5G Tokyo Bay Summit® 2018” will be held in WTP 2018 again as a special event to introduce the 5th Generation Mobile Communications System (5G). Supported by NTT DOCOMO, INC., a special pavilion and seminar will be set up, and latest 5G initiatives by major mobile operators and manufacturers in the world will be shown. Expected use cases with new services and applications on 5G, that are expected to be realized in 2020, will also be presented in various demonstrations and seminars. There will be many exhibits only shown in this WTP 2018.

Flexible Factory Project

Flexible Factory Project (FFPJ) is a collaborative initiative lifting the boundaries among business fields with an aim to offer safe and secure wireless communications in factories where the expert of wireless communications is rarely assigned. Moreover, Flexible Factory Partners Alliance (FFPA) was established for returning the results from FFPJ’s research into the manufacturing site and for promoting the popularization of them. In WTP 2018, the latest outcomes of FFPJ and FFPA will be presented through exhibition and seminars.
