The event took place at the NICT Inovation Center in Nihonbashi, and was joined by a total of 90 attendees: 47 from companies, 13 from universities/research institutes, and 30 from NICT.

After opening remarks by NICT President Tokuda, Dr. Ido introduced the Space-Time Standards Laboratory's research on space-time synchronization, such as Chip-Level Integrated Frequency Standards (CLIFS), Wi-Wi (wireless two-way interferometry) and Cluster Clock Infrastructure. After this, Dr. Ahmad Byagowi of Meta gave a keynote speech on "Precision Time Sync between End-Users and Data Centers", and laid out his vision of why precise time synchronization between users will be necessary in the Metaverse world of the future, and how it can be realized. Dr. Byagowi's presentation at the symposium can be viewed on YouTube.

In the second part, three researchers presented their collaboration on the Wi-Wi project: Mr. Yamasaki from the University of Tokyo introduced a low-delay wireless communication protocol that utilizes space-time synchronization, Mr. Nara from Tohoku University presented robot position measurements using such synchronization and Mr. Isoya (NICT) showed application of space-time synchronization technology to high-capacity communication using drones.

In the final part of the symposium, three more presentations were given by researchers working on CLIFS and cluster time systems. Their topics were wavelength tunable surface-emitting lasers using MEMS technology, introduced by Professor Toshiyoshi of the University of Tokyo and a mathematical approach for forming a stable synthetic time system from atomic clock groups presented by Associate Professor Ishizaki, Tokyo Institute of Technology. Finally, Executive Officer Dr. Yamamoto of Core Corporation talked about sub-nanosecond time synchronization using a combination of quasi-zenith satellites and GNSS.
