Space-Time Synchronization - Time Distribution
This project seeks to make accurate timing information available wherever it is needed. It provides businesses with accurate, traceable time-stamping. NICT's network time protocol server answers billions of requests every day.
For future applications, researchers work on miniaturized atomic clock chips. A novel cluster clock time infrastructure is being researched to dynamically connect many such small, mobile clocks, while also taking advantage of high performance stationary clocks when they are available. The newly-developed Wi-Wi technology provides low-cost tools for wireless time synchronization at the nanosecond level.
